Translation of Classic Literary Works and Cross-cultural Communication of Romanticism Thought: A Case Study of Don Juan

Keqin Chen

Abstract

This paper takes the classical world literature works under the trend of romantic literature as the research object, and selects the
translation versions of Byrons Don Juan in different periods and different translators for comparative analysis. This paper discusses how the
translation reflects the characteristics of the original romantic literary trend in terms of vocabulary use, sentence structure and rhetoric devices,
as well as the acceptance and variation of these characteristics in the literary context of the target language. This paper further analyzes the
ways in which romantic thoughts spread through translation in different countries and regions, including the publication and distribution of
translated literature, literary education in educational institutions, literary societies and cultural exchange activities. Finally, it considers the
key role of translation in the pluralistic and symbiotic development of world literature, such as promoting literary exchange, enriching literary
connotation, and promoting literary innovation, aiming to reveal the close connection and significance between translation and cross-cultural
communication of literary trends.
