An Exploration of the Neo-confucianism of Lu Longqis Poems
Abstract
They rarely depict natural scenery and instead focus primarily on themes of moral reasoning and farewell. The content strongly reflects NeoConfucian thought, mainly expressed in four aspects: honoring Zhu Xi and rejecting Wang Yangming, taking heavenly principle (tianli) as the
foundation, cultivating reverence and investigating principle, and valuing practical action. In these poetic works, Lu Longqi offers personal
reflections on real social issues and proposes solutions grounded in his Confucian worldview. His Neo-Confucian ideas not only follow an
internal path of personal moral development but also align with the practical learning (shixue) movement, reflecting the broader trends of historical development.
