Kaicheng Zhu*, Yuchen Sun, Ziyu Huang, Yunwei Zhuang

Abstract

As an intangible cultural heritage, Cantonese opera is called The Red Beans of the Southern Region. The rapid development of
new media has affected the communication channels and audience structure of Cantonese opera. However, traditional Cantonese opera is difficult to adapt to the current situation of Z generation fragmented reading habits. There is a contradiction between the professionalism of
work creation and the communication effect. The mismatch between the user composition of the new media platform and the age structure of
the audience on the scene of Cantonese opera, the lack of subsidy mechanism for Cantonese opera creators by the new media platform, and
the vague role of the new media platform in the dissemination of Cantonese opera affect the inheritance and innovation of Cantonese opera in
the new media era.
