The Experience of Modernity in the Process of Modernization -- Dialogue between Perry Anderson and Marshall Berman

Abstract


In recent years, with the continuous advancement of Chinese path to modernization, the issue of western modernity has again
aroused heated debate in the academic community. As a well-known leftist scholar in the Western academic community, Perry Anderson had
a thorough dialogue and rebuttal with Marshall Berman on issues such as the historical dimension of modernity experience, the development
characteristics of modernism, and its tension with revolutionary practice. This provides important academic resources for us to further grasp
the historical spirit and value connotation of Western modernity, and is worthy of in-depth research.
