Media Transformation and Digital Dissemination of Ethnic Vocal Music in the Digital Age
Abstract
in the context of the digital age. Traditionally rooted in oral transmission, ritual practice, and localized communal settings, Chinese ethnic vocal music is now increasingly mediated through a variety of digital platforms such as Douyin (TikTok), Bilibili, YouTube, and music streaming services. The study traces the transition from stage-centered, region-bound performances to virtual, algorithm-driven exposure, and examines how technologies such as short videos, livestreaming, and digital remixing are reshaping the production, presentation, and consumption
of ethnic vocal traditions.
