The Mechanism of Meaning Generation of Dancing Image Metaphors

Jingsi Zhao

Abstract

Dancing image metaphor refers to the rhetorical-cognitive practice that takes body actions in the texts of dancing works as core
media and conducts cross-domain mapping of dancing images literal meanings to abstract meanings in specific contexts through the collaborative effect of multi-modal symbols. In this paper, it is revealed that dancing image metaphors cant be regarded as dancing images grafted to
metaphorical rhetoric. Instead, it refers to a mechanism of meaning generation that takes root in the ontology of body cognition in the way of
"rhetorical-cognitive" integration, and it follows dual paths of a schema imagination mechanism and a metaphtonomy nesting structure.
