Legacy and Breakthroughs in the Traditional Chinese Family Model

Jiani Zhang

Abstract

Traditional Chinese families adhere to the ideology that the elder is superior and the younger is inferior. Since ancient times, this
system has been maintained from generation to generation, which is the reason why Chinese families differ greatly from Western families in
terms of family interaction patterns. This study aims to discuss how the film "Everything Everywhere All at Once" depicts a Chinese family
that has immigrated to the United States and how the three generations within this family pass on and break the traditional Chinese family
model.
