The Predicament and Reform Path of Internationalization of Tourism Education from a Cross-cultural Perspective

Weiwen Wang

Abstract

Due to the increasing number of inbound tourists, the cultivation of intercultural competence has become the key to improve the
service quality of Chinas tourism industry. This study reveals the core dilemmas of the current internationalization of tourism education: first,
the imbalance of intercultural education content, excessive focus on developed countries and insufficient attention to the culture of underdeveloped regions; second, the traditional teaching methods are single and boring, which are difficult to stimulate students interest. In response
to this, a corresponding reform path is proposed. Firstly, the language and cultural elements of underdeveloped countries are deeply integrated
to broaden students international horizons; secondly, contextualized teaching, micro-courses and other diversified means are vigorously implemented to enhance the effectiveness of teaching.
