Place-Making: Role Positioning and Narrative Purpose of County-Level Museums

Jingyi Luo

Abstract

With social development, the local embeddedness and place-based attributes have become increasingly prominent in the role transformation of county-level museums. As crucial mediators within localities, these museums are not only the main force in museum development but also a significant yet long-overlooked driver of county-level urban growth. This paper aims to explore the self-evolutionary nature
and self-organizing capacity of county-level museums as media institutions. Simultaneously, county-level museums are vital agents in placemaking, necessitating the recognition of human agency within local contexts.
