Research on the "Re-creation" of Short Video Platforms and Folk Culture: Taking the Intangible Cultural Heritage Nuo Opera as an Example
Abstract
folk culture. By analyzing the dissemination practices of Nuo opera on platforms such as Tiktok and Kwai, it reveals how digital media
promotes the modern transformation of traditional folk culture in terms of content form, dissemination path, and cultural function. It also
enumerates and analyzes the opportunities and risk challenges involved. The study finds that short videos transform Nuo opera from a
complete ritual into a cultural symbol adapted to the platform through symbol extraction and fragmented reconstruction. Relying on algorithm recommendation and user co-creation, a cross-regional dissemination network is built. This extends to diverse functions such
as cultural identity, economic empowerment, and educational popularization. At the same time, there are risks such as the dissolution of
cultural authenticity and commercial alienation in the "re-creation" process. The study proposes that methods such as establishing content
review mechanisms, emphasizing talent cultivation, and constructing diverse dissemination paths should be adopted to achieve the living
inheritance of folk culture in the digital era. This paper provides empirical cases and theoretical references for understanding the creative
transformation of folk culture in the era of short videos.
