A Study on the Cross-Modal Transformation Mechanism for Disseminating Traditional Culture Abroad: A "Text-Image-Translation" Triadic Model Based on Picture Book Translation Practice

Abstract

Based on the practice of translating Chinese traditional culture picture books into English, this study constructs and validates a tripartite cross-modal transformation model integrating "text-image-translation." It systematically elucidates the transformation mechanisms of
textual adaptation, visual symbols, and translation strategies within multimodal collaboration. Through case analysis and cross-modal comparison methods integrated with picture book practice, the study reveals how these three elements form complementary and reinforcing relationships centered on core cultural values, effectively reducing "cultural discounting" in cross-cultural communication. Findings demonstrate
the model's significant efficacy in achieving modern cultural translation, visualizing imagery, and linguistic adaptation, with 88.3% audience
recognition. This provides a path reference for the international dissemination of traditional culture that combines theoretical innovation with
practical applicability.
