Research on the Application of the Metaverse Platform in Cross-Cultural Communication
Abstract
Parallel to this trend, the rapid development of the metaversean emerging digital environment supported by virtual reality (VR), augmented
reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain technologieshas opened new possibilities for intercultural engagement. Instead of
functioning merely as a technological novelty, the metaverse provides users with shared virtual spaces where cultural contact unfolds beyond
the constraints of physical distance. This study investigates the role of metaverse platforms in shaping contemporary cross-cultural communication, with particular attention to their capacity to enable immersive cultural encounters, facilitate non-verbal expression, and reduce the
communicative barriers inherent in traditional online exchanges. The analysis also discusses challenges associated with the metaverse, including technological accessibility, cultural representation, and privacy concerns. The findings contribute to a clearer understanding of how emerging digital environments are redefining intercultural interaction in the twenty-first century.
