The Renewal Design of Jingdezhen Ceramic Industrial Heritage Based on Critical Spatial Narrative Theory

Ying Huang, Bojun Zhang, Jun Yan*

Abstract

Under the background of "stock renewal" and "cultural confidence, " the regeneration of industrial heritage is a key link in the sus
tainable development of cities and the construction of distinctive culture. This study takes spatial creation as its perspective, applies spatial
narrative theory, focuses on the ceramic industrial heritage of Jingdezhen, and addresses issues such as the flattening of spatial experience,
selective presentation of historical memory, and imbalance of community ecology that arise during the renewal process. Combining the "her
itage-gentrification" interaction mechanism, it reconstructs spatial narrative into a critical spatial intervention tool. The study deconstructs the
narrative potential and contradictions of the "production-warehousing-living" composite space in Jingdezhen, and then proposes a re-renewal
design framework covering five dimensions: "theme-structure-scene-symbol-mechanism" 1. By introducing theoretical concepts such as au
thoritative narrative, narrative boundary, performance, and post-landscape, it emphasizes promoting multi-participation and social inclusion in
the design process and operation mechanism, providing Jingdezhen and similar industrial heritage cities with a systematic strategy and value
reflection on humanistic, inclusive, and sustainable renewal.
