Edward Soja's Third Space Perspective on Nutshell
Abstract
By analyzing the womb as a simultaneously real and imagined "Otherspace, " the fetus's spatial resistance through consciousness and narra
tive strategies, and its cognitive-emotional restructuring through physical and psychological transgressions, the paper reveals how the novel
deconstructs the boundaries between center and periphery through spatial narrative. The research demonstrates that Nutshell, through the
spatial practices of the marginalized fetal subject, not only redefines the social and political meanings of space but also reflects the profound
implications of Thirdspace theory for issues of identity, power, and freedom.
