Metaphors of Gold in Klimt's Female-Themed Works
Abstract
artistic career occupied a crucial transitional period from traditional Western art to modern art. Klimt was deeply devoted to depicting female
subjects.After his style gradually moved away from historicism, his works began to exhibit strong subjectivity and decorative qualities, with
gold emerging as an indispensable element during this phase. Through literature review and image analysis, combined with relevant theories
of color analysis, this paper explores the connotations and metaphors embedded in the use of gold within Klimt's female-themed works, de
coding their underlying sacred, erotic, and supernatural implications.
