A Study on the Literacy Divide in Library Services in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract
makes the"literacy divide"a core issue in smart library development. Drawing on digital divide theory, this paper defines the literacy divide as
the structural disparity among user groups in understanding, utilizing, and benefiting from AI services, characterized by concealment, accumu
lation, and multidimensionality. Through systematic analysis of research on smart library service transformation, services for disadvantaged
groups, librarian literacy, and ethical norms, this paper examines the literacy divide's manifestations and causes across three dimensions
subject capability, service ethics, and institutional safeguardsand proposes a reconstruction framework across four dimensions: service phi
losophy, service system, librarian capability, and ethical norms, emphasizing tailored strategies for different library types. This study aims to
provide theoretical and practical insights for the inclusive development of smart libraries.
