Application of Kingfisher Feather Craftsmanship in Ming and Qing Jewelry

Abstract


During the Ming and Qing dynasties, handicraft techniques became increasingly sophisticated.As a highly representative decorative
craft, kingfisher feather inlay was widely applied in the production of various ornaments and became a key carrier leading material culture
and aesthetic trends of the time. This paper first analyzes the core techniques of kingfisher feather inlay, and then classifies and elaborates its
specific applications in ornaments such as "headwear, " "hairpins, " "ear ornaments, " and "buyao and tassel types." It presents the craftsman
ship characteristics and aesthetic values of different categories of ornaments, providing a theoretical basis for the inheritance and protection of
traditional crafts.
