Even Blossoms Can Bloom at the "Bottom of the Pond": On the Functions of Children's Art Education in the Film Les Choristes
Abstract
The film Les Choristes (The Chorus) tells the story of teacher Clent Mathieu and a group of troubled adolescents. In the story, a
group of confused and restless troubled youths, under Mathieu's art education, develop new outlooks on life, the world, and values, and attain
entirely new lives. This demonstrates the powerful force of art education, enabling a group of youths deemed "intractable" to obtain new lives,
and allowing the "Bottom of the Pond" reformatory to blossom with splendid flowers.
