Corpus-based Critical Discourse Analysis: The International Expansion of Chinese New Energy Industries in Latin America in Chinese Official Media (2020-2025)
Abstract
linguistics with Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to investigate lexical patterns, discursive strategies, and their social-historical contexts.
The findings show that Chinese media construct a coherent narrative centered on green cooperation, mutual benefit, and high-quality development. This narrative consistently emphasizes the positive contributions of China's new energy expansion to both China and Latin American
countries. In particular, the discourse highlights China's role in promoting sustainable development in the region while addressing shared challenges such as energy shortages and climate change. Overall, the analysis shows that this media discourse contributes to constructing a positive and responsible national image of China in the context of global energy transition.
