Practice on College English Teaching Reform Powered by AI Based on POA
Abstract
Driven by the national strategy of educational digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI)provides strong technical support for the innovation of College English classrooms in universities. The Production-Oriented Approach (POA) centers on cultivating students' language
production competence and effectively addresses the long-standing problem of separation between language input and output in traditional
English teaching. This study sorts out the prominent challenges arising from the integration of College English teaching and AI technologies,
and deeply integrates AI tools into the POA teaching system to construct an integrated "AI + POA" teaching model. Taking undergraduate students as research subjects, this reform practice adopts multiple research methods including literature review, questionnaire survey, controlled
teaching experiment and statistical analysis. The experimental results demonstrate that the AI-assisted POA teaching model can significantly
extend students' autonomous learning hours, increase the frequency of oral output, improve the overall quality of English production tasks,
and greatly boost students' satisfaction with classroom learning. This research offers theoretical references and operable practical paradigms
for the digital reform of College English teaching in higher education institutions.
