Shuai Zhang, Mingji Li

Abstract

Against the backdrop of China's implementation of the Mathematics Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition), this paper presents a case study of the 2024 junior secondary school mathematics textbook published by the People's Education Press
(PEP). The study examines the guiding principles underpinning the textbook's compilation and analyzes its innovative characteristics across
three key dimensions: overall design, structural framework, and content presentation. Specifically, this paper investigates how the textbook
has undergone content reconstruction and introduced other innovations to align with the requirements of the new curriculum standard. Furthermore, this paper discusses the potential positive impacts of these innovative features on student learning and development, arguing that the
new textbook design can better facilitate students' holistic development.
