Research Progress on Influencing Factors of Depressive Symptoms Among University Students

Meixiang Wang

Abstract

University students represent a high-risk population for experiencing depressive symptoms; these symptoms not only severely impact students' academic performance and quality of life but, in severe cases, can lead to adverse outcomes such as self-harm or suicide. This
study synthesizes a variety of domestic and international literature to analyze the influencing factors of depressive symptoms among university students, providing a comprehensive review from three dimensions biological, psychological, behavioral, and social thereby offering a
theoretical foundation for the early screening and identification of high-risk individuals in higher education institutions, the implementation of
personalized interventions, and the reduction of the incidence of depression among university students.
