A Practice Report on C-E Simulated Consecutive Interpreting of the Record of Mayor Huang Qifans Meeting with the President of Kering Group

Zihan Chen

Abstract

In this practice of English-Chinese consecutive interpreting, the interpreter selected the conversations between the former Mayor
(of Chongqing) Huang Qifan and the president of Kering Group as the material to practice interpreting. The source information was mainly
formed by the on-site communication, and the language was not organized logically---- most information was expressed verbally. So the content was complicated and the logic was not clear enough. Chapter 4 is the key part of this report, focusing on the main problems during the
practice, such as the duplication, unclear logic, too Fragmented Sentences and rigid interpreting. To solve these problems, strategies like omission, integration, reorganization of sentence patterns, and emphasis on logical relationships were used respectively. It is hoped that this report
can help make the interpreting strategies be used in future practices flexibly to improve the quality of interpreting.
