Exploring the Integration of Fine Traditional Chinese Culture in College English Teaching

Abstract


Against the backdrop of new curriculum reforms, the cultivation of core competencies should become an important goal of college
English teaching. Through English teaching, students should achieve balanced development in various aspects such as language ability, cultural awareness, and thinking quality. However, traditional English teaching focuses on students language skills, neglecting the knowledge they
acquire during the learning process. Moreover, the teaching materials and content are mainly based on the introduction of Western culture, neglecting the integration with Chinese excellent traditional culture. This affects students understanding and inheritance of Chinese traditional
culture and restricts their confidence in displaying Chinese traditional culture in foreign interactions. Therefore, this article deeply explores the
integration and development of Chinese excellent traditional culture with English teaching, aiming to better combine the excellent traditional
culture with college English teaching, and thus proposes a new educational model that meets the requirements of the times. In teaching practice, it is necessary not only to improve students English proficiency but also to deepen their understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
