Translation Strategies of the Passive Voice in Technical English from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

Haiying Zhang

Abstract

With the rapid development of science and technology in todays society, people has entered an era of artificial intelligence and new
technology empowerment. As one of the most important means of communication, the translation of scientific and technical texts has become
more and more important.Due to the obvious differences in culture, language, and environment between China and the West and the lack of
competence of translators, it is difficult to translate scientific and technical English texts, and scientific and technical texts often contain a
large number of passive sentences, so the translation of passive voice is complicated to convey the effective information of the original text.
This not only affects the scientific and technological exchanges between countries but also is not conducive to the overall development of the
translation industry. Therefore, it is significant to investigate the translation of passive voice in scientific and technical texts.
