The Empowerment and Challenges of Generative Artificial Intelligence to Foreign Language Teaching in Universities -- Taking ChatGPT as An Example

Abstract


This paper investigates the impact of generative artificial intelligence (GAI), with ChatGPT as the representative, on university
foreign language teaching. After introducing ChatGPT, it comprehensively analyzes its empowering effects and challenges in teaching, and
proposes corresponding improvement strategies. The aim is to provide references for the effective utilization of GAI in university foreign
language teaching in the context of new technologies and to promote the cultivation of foreign language talents and the development of
education.
