When AI Gains Empathy: Teacher Role Dilemmas and Reconstruction in Educational Ecosystems

Xin Liu

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the education ecosystem. In particular, advancements in Affective Computing pose significant challenges to traditional teacher roles. This paper reviews relevant Chinese and foreign literature and identifies three major dilemmas faced by teachers when AI exhibits basic empathy: alienation of teacher-student relationships, blurred duty boundaries, and crises in professional identity. To address these challenges, the study proposes a restructuring strategy involving role repositioning,
competency framework upgrading, and enhanced ecological synergy.
