Design and Practice of Project Learning Teaching Based on STEAM Concept -- Taking The Growth of Bean Sprouts as an Example

Huilin Luo, Jiayi Li, Lei Xie

Abstract

This article is guided by the STEAM educational philosophy and combines the requirements of the Guidelines for Preschool Education, Guidelines for the Development of Children Aged 0-6, and Core Competencies for the Development of Chinese Students to design and implement the Sprout Growth Record project for learning. This project focuses on junior students majoring in preschool education
as the teaching objects. Through a four stage teaching process of determining projects - collecting and summarizing information - making
tests - sharing and reflecting, it integrates knowledge from five major disciplines: science (botany), technology (device design), engineering
(system optimization), art (appearance), and mathematics (measurement, data analysis), and constructs an exploration system consisting of
four sub projects.
