Juan Zhao

Abstract

The current College English curriculum is increasingly marginalized within the higher education talent cultivation system, making it
difficult to meet students diverse learning needs and professional development goals. Based on policy documents such as the College English
Teaching Guide (2020) and leveraging the unique characteristics of the Emergency Management major, this paper proposes a school-based
College English curriculum reform plan. Guided by the principles of ensuring foundations, teaching students according to their aptitude,
and meeting learning needs, the reform focuses on five core areas: curriculum design, teaching objectives, instructional methods, resource
development, and evaluation systems. The aim is to enhance students English proficiency, academic communication skills, and professional
competence, thereby providing a practical path for the sustainable development and characteristic construction of College English in higher
