Nannan Zhao, Hui Li

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought both unprecedented challenges and new opportunities to English
language education, enabling more diversified and intelligent approaches to instructional design. Multimodal teaching, which integrates various forms of media to engage multiple senses, has proven effective in enhancing students reading comprehension and overall learning experience. As a foundational course for English majors, the intensive reading course plays a critical role in developing students comprehensive
language skills. This article investigates how AI technologies can be integrated into the instructional design of intensive reading courses,
drawing on classroom practices to address common teaching challenges and explore multimodal solutions.
