On the Strategies to Integrate Chinese Traditional Culture into English Cultural Courses

Abstract


The teaching of English cultural course in China should not only adhere to the spirit of appreciating and learning from western culture, but also follow the rules of keeping the dominant position of Chinese culture in order to maintain the dominance and discourse power of
Chinese culture in cross-cultural communication. This paper analyzes the values and necessities of integrating Chinese traditional culture into
English cultural courses from three aspects: First, it is useful to solve Chinese Culture Aphasia; second, it is a good way to enhance Chinese
students cultural confidence; last but not least, integrating Chinese traditional culture can improve teaching effectiveness of English cultural
courses. Moreover, this paper put forward some strategies as for integrating Chinese traditional culture into English cultural courses, such
as promoting teachers cross-cultural competence, strengthening students cultural confidence by comparison in teaching as well as refining
methods and approaches of integration.
