Foreign Language Teacher Education: History, Status Quo, and Future Direction

Abstract


Foreign language teacher education is a critical field that undergoes significant changes over time, influenced by historical, social,
and technological factors. This article examines the history, current status, and future directions of foreign language teacher education from a
comprehensive perspective. The first part briefly introduces the importance of foreign language teacher education and the limitations of this
article. The second part provides a historical overview of world foreign language teacher education and Chinese foreign language teacher
education, tracing their development from ancient times to the present, highlighting their key milestones and teaching methods. The third part
delves into the current situation of foreign language teacher education, analyzing the main trends, challenges, and opportunities faced in this
field. The fourth part proposes the future development direction of foreign language teacher education and provides some suggestions for promoting the development of foreign language teacher education. The fifth part is the conclusion of this article.
