Mindfulness Meditation in Professional Psychology Courses Improves Mental Health of Vocational Medical Students
Abstract

received normal professional psychology course teaching, while the experimental group added a 12-week group mindfulness meditation training on the basis of normal teaching. The anxiety self-rating scale (SAS), depression screening scale (PHQ-9), self-esteem scale (SES), mental
health continuum scale (MHC-SF adult version), and mindfulness attention awareness scale (MAAS) were used to measure the mental health
of the two groups before and after the intervention. Results: It showed that there was no significant difference in the baseline values of the five
scales between the two groups before the experiment. After the 12-week intervention, the experimental group showed statistically significant reductions in depression and anxiety, with improved mindfulness awareness and mental health continuum scores. Conclusion: Adding mindfulness
meditation training to college students professional psychology courses significantly helps to improve college students mental health levels.
