Reform of English in Higher Education under the Background of New Liberal Arts
Abstract
humanistic literacy, advocates for interdisciplinary integration, and cultivates innovative talents with a global perspective. Against this backdrop, college English education needs to shift from traditional language skill training to a broader cultivation of cultural exchange and critical
thinking. The introduction of the new liberal arts concept aims to stimulate students innate passion for learning, cultivate their innovative
spirit and critical thinking, to meet the challenges of the 21st century. In the process of college English reform, continuous exploration and
practice are needed to build an educational system that not only conforms to the new liberal arts concept but also effectively enhances students comprehensive qualities.
