The Theory and Practice of the "San-Sheng" Chinese Language Education Model

Dongwei Liu, Zhen Huang, Jieyao Hong*, Meixiao Hong

Abstract

Drawing on newly issued national policies and the realities of primary Chinese education, this paper explores a "San-Sheng"
model that integrates "survival, living, and life" into Chinese lessons to advance curricular reform. Harnessing language mastery, moral
cultivation, and character formation, the model aims to foster pupils survival skills, life wisdom, and life values. The study shows that
functional Chinese empowers pupils to speak with clarity and strength; engaging Chinese sparks passion and creativity; transformative
Chinese enlightens their understanding of life. Thus, Chinese education should be treated as a survival skill to master, a life wisdom to develop, and a life value to pursue.
