A Study on the Symptoms of State and Trait Anxiety among College Students from the Perspective of Charles D. Spielbergers STAI Theory
Abstract
among college students, as well as their psychological and physiological symptom manifestations. The study finds that college students anxiety is influenced by both external factors, such as academic pressure, social relationships, and employment concerns, and internal factors, including genetics, childhood environment, personality traits, and sleep quality. Anxiety is classified into state anxiety and Trait Anxiety, where
state anxiety represents a temporary emotional response, while Trait Anxiety is a relatively stable personality characteristic. Symptoms of
anxiety in college students include psychological manifestations such as fear, worry, and depression, as well as physiological symptoms like loss
of appetite, insomnia, and dizziness. The paper suggests that schools and society provide psychological support, encourages college students to
actively seek ways to alleviate anxiety, and advocates for creating a relaxed and supportive environment to reduce anxious emotions. This study
provides theoretical foundations and practical guidance for intervention strategies and mental health education addressing college student anxiety.
