Lin Wang, Xinglong Zhao, Liuyang Shen, Lijun Wang, Chunbo Yang

Abstract

The cultivation of disciplined study habits is fundamental to academic success and psychological well-being among university
students. Traditional study skills programs often neglect motivational and emotional dimensions critical to sustained academic engagement. The PERMA modelcomprising Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishmentoffers a holistic
psychological framework to support student discipline from a well-being-oriented perspective. This paper explores PERMA-driven strategies to foster self-regulated learning habits in higher education. By aligning academic routines with each PERMA element, students may
develop sustained motivation, cognitive flexibility, intrinsic resilience, and effective time management. Through an in-depth analysis of
current challenges, educational psychology, and practical implementations, the study presents an integrated strategy that connects wellbeing theory with concrete behavioral interventions, offering a novel path to building enduring, disciplined academic routines that enhance
both performance and life satisfaction.
