A Study on the Integration of Traditional Chinese Festival Culture into Ideological and Political Education for University Students

Gaoshuai Cui

Abstract

As a vibrant carrier of Chinese civilisation, traditional festivals not only embody patriotic sentiments, social responsibility, and ecological wisdom but also, due to their unique ritual systems and cultural memories, provide rich cultural nourishment for ideological and political education. However, current ideological and political education in higher education institutions still faces challenges such as insufficient
emphasis on education and propaganda, a need for innovation in teaching content and methods, and students' limited understanding of festival
culture. In light of this, it is imperative to establish three integration pathways: systematically integrating festival culture into classroom teaching, innovatively incorporating festival culture into practical activities, and subtly infusing festival culture into campus cultural environment
construction. Through multi-dimensional collaboration, traditional Chinese festival culture can serve as a key breakthrough point for innovation in university ideological and political education, providing robust support for cultivating new-era youth with cultural self-awareness and
patriotic sentiments.
