Design and Implementation of Study Tours Based on the 5C Competency Model A Case Study of Siming Lake Wetland in Ningbo, Zhejiang
Abstract
study-travel programs based on the 21st-Century Core Competencies 5C Model. Integrating the characteristics of the geography discipline
with the cognitive level of high school students, the study designed five series of study-travel activities centered on themes such as wetland
ecosystem cognition, functional exploration, governance strategies, and sustainable development. These activities include: Introduction to
Wetlands, Functional Exploration, Wetland Governance, Wetland Future, and Wetland Development. Through field investigations, hands-on
experiments, role-playing, and questionnaire surveys, students are guided to integrate geographical knowledge with information technology,
enhancing regional cognition, human-land coordination perspectives, and practical skills. Concurrently, a multi-dimensional evaluation system grounded in 5C competenciesencompassing both formative and summative assessmentsis established to foster comprehensive development of core competencies. Findings indicate this study-travel model effectively integrates disciplinary literacy with comprehensive skill
cultivation, offering practical pathways and references for experiential education in secondary geography.
