Abstract

Based on the "6W" theoretical framework of Translation and Communication Studies proposed by scholars such as Yin Feizhou,
this paper takes the three English translations of the Ming Dynasty scientific and technological classic Tian Gong Kai Wu Jade as its research
object. It systematically examines the "knowledge reconstruction" behaviors of translators during the knowledge communication process.
Through a comparative analysis of the translation strategies employed by E-tu Zen Sun (1966), Li Ch'iao-p'ing (1980), and Wang Haiyan et al.
(2011) regarding specialized terminology, technical processes, and scientific concepts, this study finds that translators systematically reorganized the knowledge about jade from the source text through various means such as simplification, analogy, and reorganization to adapt to the
cognitive habits and knowledge structures of target language readers. The research reveals that the translation of scientific and technological
classics is not merely a process of linguistic transfer but also a crucial practice of cross-cultural knowledge reproduction, holding significant
implications for the international communication of Chinese scientific and technological civilization.
