From Tools to Partners: Evaluating the Efficacy of a Generative AI Co-Design Model for EFL Teacher Professional Development

Xuefan Feng

Abstract

This qualitative study explores a "Generative AI Co-Design" professional development model for EFL lecturers. Through semistructured interviews with 8 participants, we identified three key themes: identity shift from users to design directors, development of critical
AI partnership, and enhanced creative agency. Findings demonstrate the model's success in fostering pedagogically-grounded AI integration,
highlighting co-design as a transformative PD approach.
