Analysis of the Change of Employment Values of the New Generation College Students

Yiyi Chen

Abstract

As society undergoes profound structural transformations and technological revolutions continue to permeate, the employment
values of the new generation of college students are undergoing a systemic shift from "stability-seeking" to "truth-seeking and self-actualization." This cohort no longer regards "official positions" or "iron rice bowls" as the sole criteria for career choices, but instead prioritizes
alignment with personal interests, value realization, and lifestyle. Through analyzing how digital economy, cultural diversity, and social
media reshape youth employment perceptions, this study reveals the underlying logic and practical tensions in their value evolution. Research findings indicate that the tension between ideals and reality has spawned new anxieties and confusions, while emerging concepts
like lifelong learning, social responsibility, and human-machine collaboration are gradually establishing a more flexible professional
framework. Only through coordinated evolution of educational systems, policy support, and societal awareness can young people anchor
themselves in this era of mobility.
