Intervention Strategies for Addressing Interpersonal Communication and Family Care Deficits Among University Students: A Case Study of Hainan Vocational University of Science and Technology
Abstract
This paper examines the psychological crisis experienced by student W at Hainan Vocational University of Science and Technology, illustrating how family dysfunction and interpersonal challenges can trigger such crises among university students. The article analyses W's case and
conceptualises it through four dimensions: defence mechanisms, object relations, self-functioning, and core conflicts. Drawing upon cognitive
behavioural therapy (CBT) and object relations theory, it proposes an intervention pathway involving a four-party collaborative mechanism
linking university, faculty, family, and medical services. The paper also summarises successful practices and shortcomings in crisis intervention. Finally, the paper proposes strategies such as establishing a three-tier mental health education system encompassing prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation, offering reference points for higher education institutions addressing similar issues.
