Research on the Quality and Efficiency Improvement Paths of College English Teaching in Western China Under the Background of Educational Digitalization

Wenjin Zhou

Abstract

Educational digitalization constitutes a pivotal initiative to advance the balanced development of higher education in China and
address the deep-seated predicament of uneven regional educational development. Constrained by such contingencies as economic foundations, geographical locations, and faculty strength, universities in western China have witnessed a relatively sluggish trajectory in the digital
transformation of college English teaching, grappling with practical dilemmas including inadequate adaptability of digital resources, deficient
digital literacy among faculty and students, rigid pedagogical modalities, and a homogeneous evaluation mechanism. Grounded in the distinctive attributes of students' learning profiles and teaching contexts in western universities, this paper explores targeted pathways to enhance
the quality and efficiency of college English teaching against the backdrop of educational digitalization from five interrelated dimensions: resource system reconstruction, faculty capacity building, teaching model innovation, evaluation mechanism optimization, and guarantee system
refinement. It aims to provide theoretical references and practical paradigms for propelling the high-quality development of college English
teaching in western higher education institutions.
