Application of Situational Teaching Method in Spoken English Teaching: Improving Students' Oral English Ability Through Authentic Situational Creation

Junyao Tang

Abstract

With globalization, oral English communicative competence has become a key part of comprehensive talent quality. Traditional
cramming teaching still dominates current oral English classes, leading to widespread "dumb English" and making students unable to use
English flexibly in real contexts. Based on constructivism and communicative language teaching, this paper explores innovative applications
of situational teaching in oral English instruction. It proposes integrated strategies including multimedia technology, immersive role-play and
on-site situational practice to build a highly simulated language environment. Empirical results show that this model reduces students lan
guage anxiety, stimulates learning motivation, and significantly improves fluency and appropriateness of oral expression. Although restricted
by resource allocation and teacher competence, situational teaching can provide a feasible paradigm for oral English teaching reform after
resource optimization and strengthened teacher training.
