The "One Body,Two Wings"Teaching Model for Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education in College English Listening and Speaking --A Case Study of the Integration of Yellow River Culture
Abstract
uninspiring content, and a disconnect between language teaching and the cultivation of cultural confidence. To address this gap, this study
proposes the "One Body, Two Wings" instructional model, which integrates the Production-Oriented Approach (POA) as its core pedagogical
process, supported by blended learning and cultural confidence as the two enabling "Wings". Yellow River cultural elements are interwoven
into a three-phase, six-step blended teaching process via this model, implemented through elaborate design for the "Famous Cities" unit in
New Horizon College English. Data from multiple sourcesincluding platform records, classroom observations, student reflections, and
interviewsreveal significant gains: students showed increasing engagement across all learning phases, marked improvements in listening
and speaking competence, and a deepened sense of cultural confidence, with many expressing greater motivation to share their local heritage
through English. The findings suggest that this model offers a viable pathway for integrating regional cultural resources into college English
instruction to achieve both linguistic and ideological goals.
