Exploration and Practice of Communicative Language Teaching for College English Reading Class

Yang Li, Xuefan Feng

Abstract

This study integrates Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) into college English reading classes by putting forward four prac
tical strategies, including designing communicative activities, building an extracurricular reading support system, implementing formative
assessment, and transforming teachers' roles. It confirms that CLT can stimulate students' reading motivation, enhance classroom interaction,
and improve students' communicative competence, aligning with the requirements of achieving high-quality language teaching in China's
higher education.
