A Study on a Formative Assessment Mechanism for Translation Using E-Portfolio and AI

Siyu Bao

Abstract

As the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology deepens in translation, greater emphasis is placed on students' learning
processes, learning abilities, and overall competencies. This study uses electronic portfolios to establish a formative assessment mechanism.
Focusing on students majoring in translation at the Nanjing Normal University Zhongbei College, it explores the practical value of e-portfolios
in translation education through longitudinal data collection and multidimensional analysis. The results indicate that e-portfolio enhances
students' self-monitoring, reflective, and project management skills, making their learning trajectories more traceable and their competency
development more measurable. This study seeks to provide empirical evidence for the development of an AI-adapted formative assessment
system for translation programs. In addition, it has implications for nurturing translators with both technical competence and humanistic, reflective capacity.
