Research on Cross-cultural Communication Paths of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture in Overview of Chinese Culture from the Perspective of Complementarity between Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine

Abstract

Sharing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture with the world is an important step. This action helps to build a global community for human health. The course named Overview of Chinese Culture is a core class for general education. It helps international students
in China learn about Chinese culture in a deep way. However, TCM and Western medicine use very different medical models. Because of this
wide gap, international students often misunderstand the basic theories of TCM. Thus, they have very low recognition and trust in TCM. This
paper studies the many differences between TCM and Western medicine in detail. It looks carefully at ontological paradigms, epistemological
thinking, and language use. Next, it pairs the matching strengths of both medical systems together. This step creates a fully integrated medical
system combining TCM and Western medicine. Through paths like changing the course design and explaining words very clearly, the teaching effectiveness is significantly improved. It also uses modern technology and real clinical proof to help students learn. These basic methods
improve how we teach TCM culture to people from other cultures. They reduce the mental clash and conflict between TCM and Western
medicine. They also help international students build a strong cultural connection with TCM.
