A Study on the Narrative Structure of New Year Paintings and the Construction of Cultural Memory
Abstract
systems collectively construct the visual narrative structure of New Year paintings, and to elucidate their function in storing, activating, and
reproducing cultural memory throughout the transmission process. Drawing upon cases of New Year painting revitalization from multiple localities, the paper traces the pathways of modern transformation for traditional iconography, and advances the argument that New Year paintings are not merely aesthetic carriers but also media for sustaining cultural identity. Their narrative structure, characterized by both stability
and openness, constitutes the internal foundation for the continuous transmission of cultural memory.
